01What the operation does

Cataract surgery
Cataract is the most common reason patients come to this clinic, and it is the operation Dr. Rinku Das trained specifically to do. Her fellowship in IOL and microsurgery was completed at JPM Rotary Eye Hospital, Cuttack, in 2010.

Glaucoma care
Dr. Rinku Das holds a fellowship in glaucoma from Susrut Eye Foundation, Kolkata, completed in 2012, and is a member of the Glaucoma Society of India. Glaucoma is the condition she trained longest for.

Diabetic eye checkup
Diabetic retinopathy damages the small blood vessels of the retina long before vision changes. Screening exists because the treatable stage has no symptoms at all.

It sounds minor until you have it. Dry eye is one of the most common reasons people in this part of Bengaluru come in, and screen heavy work is why.

Laser vision correction works very well in the right eye and is a poor idea in the wrong one. The assessment matters more than the technology, so that is where this starts.

Uveitis and ocular inflammation
Uveitis is inflammation inside the eye. Treated early it usually settles. Left alone it causes cataract, glaucoma and retinal damage, so it is one of the few eye conditions where a few days matter.

MBBS, MS Ophthalmology. Fellowship trained twice over: intraocular lens and microsurgery at JPM Rotary Eye Hospital in Cuttack, and glaucoma at Susrut Eye Foundation in Kolkata.
She qualified in medicine in 2000 and specialised in ophthalmology in 2009. Before opening this clinic in January 2019 she worked as a consultant ophthalmologist at Melvin Jones Lions Eye Hospital, Vasan Eye Care and Devi Eye Hospital. Sixty children screened free at Kidzee on Sarjapur Road in January 2020, on the clinic’s first anniversary. Glaucoma awareness weeks in 2020 and 2024. Live sessions for Cure.fit and Cult.fit during the pandemic, one of them with close to twenty thousand views.
School talks at Little Elly in Bellandur, a podcast on children’s eye care, a panel on eye strain in children when school moved onto screens, and a talk on leadership in healthcare at the WOS Karnataka Chapter in 2025.

What does a consultation cost?
The consultation fee is 800 rupees, as published on the clinic’s Practo profile. Anything beyond a standard examination is explained and priced before it is done.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Walk in patients are seen, but you may wait. Booking is better. Saturday is the busiest day of the week and weekday mornings are the quietest, which is worth knowing if waiting is difficult for you or for an elderly patient.
Will my eyes be dilated, and can I drive afterwards?
Dilating drops are needed whenever the retina has to be examined properly, which includes most first visits and every diabetic check. Vision stays blurred and light sensitive for a few hours afterwards, so arrange not to drive and bring sunglasses.
What should I bring?
Your current glasses or contact lenses, any earlier prescription or eye report, a list of your medicines, and if you are diabetic your latest sugar readings. For a child, bring any school vision report.
Is there a video consultation?
Yes. The clinic offers a video consultation over WhatsApp by prior appointment, for patients who cannot come in, with a follow up visit to the clinic afterwards. Anything involving pain, sudden loss of vision or injury needs to be seen in person.

Yes. Squint, lazy eye, refractive errors, blocked tear ducts and school vision problems are all seen here, and vision can be measured in children far too young to read letters.
